Sister Weekend!

First of all, forgive me for the long hiatus!! Last week I seemed to get so lazy busy, and then this weekend I had the JOY of spending time with my sister in Greenville!

Our weekend was filled with so many fun things! When we're together we literally go all out. For some reason we dress up for each other...it's one of the joys of having a sister! haha

We went to lunch with my dad on Friday as soon as Kelly flew in, and I laughed to myself because here was Kelly with her fur coat, fancy jewelry, 6 inch stilletos and me with my leopard fur bag, all black ensemble, 6 inch stilletos...and my dad.

Who was probably thinking where did these two people come from?!!

Oh right, their Mother.

It was great! I loved every second of our pretend fashion show :)

After that we made all of our favorite spots including a little stroll downtown, a stop at Starbuck's, a dash into the Fresh Market for these...

Chocolate Covered Blueberries...my sister is obsessed.

And a trip to get "sister bracelets" at Hampden clothing...

Saturday morning we went to our friend, Heather's beautiful wedding, and somehow I only managed to get this picture with my precious friend, Carrie!

I can't believe I didn't take any pictures! The flowers were gorgeous, the food was delicious and the Bride was absolutely beautiful! We had so much fun.

That night we headed here for a girls night out with Sharon, Nikki and Nikki's mom...

I cannot even tell you how much fun we had except to say that we were there for 3 hours and it felt like 30 minutes. We have never laughed so hard and for so long, and ticked so many people off for being so loud. I apologize if you were at Lieu's Saturday night and couldn't enjoy your meal, but it was well worth the ugly looks from people we got! :)

It was pure therapy, and I love nothing more than a fun girls night out! I'm so thankful that I have such amazing girls in my family...it is honestly the biggest gift from God!

When I got home yesterday I was completely exhausted in the best way possible so Himmies and I snuggled up and went to bed...

J'adore my pillow surprise!

When I got home from work last night I made some edamame and waited for Blake to get home.

I was wondering what was taking so long...usually he gets home right around the same time as I do, but it was pushing almost 45 minutes late. A year ago I would have gone into a panic, but now I realize he just has his own agenda so I go with it.

When he got home he walked straight back to our bedroom hardly telling me hello. He said he had to go write an important email. About two minutes later he told me to come back there. I was busy eating my edamame so I said "be there in a minute" :)

He said, "No really, you have to come back here."

Reluctantly I walked back to our room where he was laying down. He told me to come lay my head on my pillow...I couldn't say no to that! :) After I did he told me to turn my pillow over. I got a little butterfly in my stomach because when he does surprise me, I usually find it under the pillow.

Like the tooth fairy...

Only now it's the surprise fairy.

When I turned it over I found a bottle of this!

For Christmas my sister and I bought my mom the Miss Dior Cherie perfume, and when we did they gave us a ton of samples of this. I wore it only on special occasions because I LOVE the smell! My mom used to wear it when I was younger so it reminds me of her and makes me feel like I'm a real woman now!

I lightly mentioned to Blake this past weekend that I was so sad because I ran out of my samples.

He took note obviously and surprised me!

I am so thankful for such a sweet, thoughtful husband!! I am blessed beyond words every day to have him!!

My High and low of the weekend

My High:

Brent and Nikki came down and stayed with us this weekend, and Saturday night we had such a fun, long dinner together.

We are so blessed to have family that we love so much, and that we have the best time with! "If only we were in Greenville"...our famous line we probably overused this weekend, and every time we're together. We always joke that the four of us could live together...except I'm not joking.

Blake and Nikki have the absolute funniest relationship. I'm constantly laughing at them every time we're all together...it's like a show. The two of them are so much alike, and Brent and I tend to be more alike. I'm afraid Blake and Nikki may kill each other if we actually did live together, but as long as we had a little extra space I think we could make it work! :)

Anywho, back to the dinner...

Here was our not so fancy meal...

and what meal would be complete without Blake's Spicy Green Beans?

and a Rotisserie chicken that was amazing! (They have the best ones at The Fresh Market!)

and then there was pasta...but I forgot to take a picture.

The boys got out their knives razers and "cleaned the table" before setting it up...

and then we were ready to eat!

except for the fact that I had no napkins, paper towels or anything that resembled either one of these things except for little hand towels...

we all used ours in different ways.

Nikki actually used hers, Brent did the shirt tuck...

and I let Himmies use it as a pillow...

And then came my Low of the weekend...

I hate when they have to leave! It's always so sad to watch them go, but good thing we will all be reunited soon!

They grow up so fast...

I'm constantly reading blogs about Mothers and their children, and I absolutely LOVE them...

I can completely relate.

When Teddy was a newborn he used to wake me up to feed him in the middle of the night, I was constantly taking him outside to go piddle,

and of course he was more partial to dad even though I was the one who slaved away with him the whole day...

He eventually grew into his awkward years, and I was terrified of him...I know a mother's love should never waiver, but I'm sorry-you try and love something that looks like that...

He eventually moved out of his awkward stage and into his too cool for school/hippie stage. I warned Blake our kids were going to take after him...

And unfortunately he got caught up with the wrong crowd and started popping pills (10 advil to be exact)

He pulled a Lindsay on me and headed to rehab...

After many prayers he was healed and overcame his addiction. He started pulling his life together, and even learned how to drive!

And now, I couldn't love him more or be more proud.

Hurry home Blake. The blog posts are getting weird...

Who are you?...And a random

I've just recently discovered that I have this awesome tool on my blog where I can see a map view of the last 10 people who've visited my site

Now...don't have a heart attack. I don't know who you are, what city you're in or anything like that because to find out that info I'd have to buy the pro version for like $10 a month, and I've already had a hard enough time explaining my need for starbucks to Blake...

So here is the snapshot of a few of you...I love seeing all of your little red dots out there!

But call me crazy...is this thing just trying to make me feel special and think some person out there out at sea is actually looking at my blog??

Or is there someone really out there looking at me blog?!!!

If it's you...tell me who you are!! I love it!

I especially love it because I can tell when my mom or sister is reading...Hey Texas!!

And Hello love bug in Miami! ;) (you're dot is actually not on there, Kel...but I still love seeing it when it is!)

And this is totally random, but we went to the park this weekend to have lunch and take the dogs to play, and I took this picture of Blake and Teddy and now I think it's my favorite one...

Teddy's just hanging on by a thread.

We may have to give him a lesson in how to hold children before we have real ones one day...

Hi, My name is Megan and I'm addicted to...

A lot of things.

As I sit here about to go crazy...because we're in a new office at work, the phones are ringing off the hook, and all of a sudden I feel like a mother of a newborn child who won't stop screaming...

Except I get a 15 minute break and get to turn my phone off...

and so I probably shouldn't have just mirrored my work life to that of a Mom.

Sorry mother's, Forgive me?

I'm sitting here coping through the day with these...

I've gone through approxiamately a bag...

as if I'll never eat again.

Then there's this...

I found mine at Walgreen's for $3.99 and I'm obsessed with it! It's organic lip balm and it's the best stuff ever. I chose the "Mint" flavor.

Best. Stuff. Ever!

And you know my long-time love affair with these...

Starbuck's Mocha Frappacino.

and for some reason I feel as though I can't breathe without one of these a day...

No really, I feel like I can't breathe unless I know I'm within my 24-hour period of taking one.

And then last night I realized I was obsessed with this, although I'm completely embarrassed because I can see my best friend, Audrey dying as she reads this...

Good thing I know she'll still love me when she finds out my closet obsessions...

The Bachelor.

And not because of the Bachelor.

I couldn't care less about him.

That sounded mean, but I'm just not strung on every episode of him making out with 10 girls...I'm obsessed because of this girl...

Last night she was described by one of the other girl's like this..."She looks like a tiny little Barbie, but she has the heart of Mother Theresa...how can you hate Mother Theresa? You want to, but you just can't."

I love that line...and I think every girl felt the same way about her.

And of course my last obsession lately is of no surprise to anyone...

After reading this post myself I think it's safe to say that I need help.

Immediately.

Thank you, Followers!

I just wanted to say a quick Good Morning to all of you, and thank you all for reading my blog!! I was so excited the past couple of days to see three new followers (Hi Ms. Boccio, Logan and Shari! :) )

I love reading all of your comments and seeing who all is out there, so thank you thank you for "following" me and letting me know you're there, and for all your input! I love reading your messages to me about it...they make my day. Let me know if there's anything you ever want to hear about!

I hope you all have a great Friday, and an even better (hopefully for some like me) three day weekend!!

I'm starting to feel like I hardly work due to the snow and all of these holidays, but you won't find me complaining ;)

ps-On a completely different note I watched Real Housewives of Beverly Hills last night and cried through the whole thing...please tell me someone else did too! Or else something may be seriously wrong with me...

One Kings Lane

Have you heard of this website? Perhaps you have and I'm three years behind, but I just discovered it yesterday and fell IN LOVE! If you like Gilt Group for your closet, then you'll LOVE One Kings Lane for your home. That sounds so cheesy, but I'm serious...

Here are a few of my favorites from their sale yesterday. Each day a new sale starts at 11 am, but I'm told some things go quickly so it's best to check as soon as the sale hits.

I won't bore you and go through why I love each one, but they have the most unique, beautiful things, and the best part is they're anywhere from 50-75% off!

Curls are for Girls...

I've had a few of you ask me to show you how I curl my hair, so here is a horrible attempt at showing you! :)

Thank you to Blake for taking the pictures, making fun of me in the process, and making me laugh and almost burn my hair off...I love ya!

Let me just say that the amazingly talented Bryan Fowler, my hairstylist (who used to be at Wilson's on Washington, but just recently opened his own salon with his wife called Mod) was the one who showed me how to do this, so if you actually want to learn...go see him! :)

Let me also say that I tried this on my sister when she came to town last time...and it took about 10 minutes to get the hang of it on someone else.

So the moral of the story is just play around with it. It took me a long time to get it, but I finally did.

Here we go...

First of all, you will use your straightner (a 1 inch) NOT a curling iron...

Bump up the heat to the "please fry each cuticle" setting...

Section off a small piece...

and curl AWAY from your face...please excuse the chipping nail polish-it's getting worse and worse every day, but I can't seem to take it off.

Continue to pull the hair through the straightner in a "curling" motion...I sometimes have to guide my hair through with my other hand.

And another angle...Oh and please excuse the mess behind me...

And there you have it...a curl! For a girl...

I hope this helps a tad bit, but if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! Happy Wednesday! :)
