Green Day...A Recipe and a Painting Revised

But First of all...Thank you SO MUCH for all of the comments yesterday!! I absolutely love reading them-they are a highlight of my day! It is so fun hearing your thoughts so thank you thank you thank you! :)

And secondly...

Teddy.

Here he was playing in the leaves yesterday. Love that child dog!

And on to the recipe...Blake's Famous Spicy Green Beans

What you will need:

A bowl of fresh Green Beans (found in the produce aisle)
1 tbsp of Minced Garlic
1 tsp of Chili Garlic Paste
Garlic Salt
Olive Oil

Begin with the burner on Med-High...ours is old school...

Then Coat the botton of the pan in Olive Oil...

Throw in the green beans and wait for them to sizzle. Shake the pan or toss the beans every couple of minutes.

After about 7 minutes add 1 tbsp of garlic (we love a ton of garlic, but you may want to start at about a tsp...however, Blake says the garlic makes them good)

Stir evenly around and turn down to Medium so that the garlic doesn't burn. After about a minute add the Chili Garlic paste (Blake and I have only been able to find this at the Fresh Market, but you have to get this exact one...it's the best!)

After another 2 minutes sprinkle Garlic salt evenly...

And when the beans are cooked to how you like them, add 1/4 cup of soy sauce and let sit for 2 minutes on Med-Low.

Add the beans to a bowl and pour the sauce on top...

And there you have it...Spicy Green Beans!

Be careful...you'll get highly addicted. We eat them pretty much every night.

And now on to Blake's painting I showed you yesterday...

Blake insisted she looked like a witch so he had to fix her face. I loved her before, but I REALLY love her now!!

So here is the NEW and IMPROVED silhouette...

A view of how it looks in our bedroom...

Don't worry...our bed did not look like that 10 seconds before the picture was taken...it was a crazy mess so I did a quick fix for picture purposes :)

And one last one...

I am so excited. I absolutely LOVE it!!

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

  1. I love the painting!! It is amazing. He has a style all his own. He doesn't copy anyone and his artwork has a definite edge that is all "Blake". I think he needs to enter some in some art shows.

Oh! I made a grocery list of the items that are used in the Green beans. I will make sure we have them at Grandmothers' house.

  10. Hi! I just ran across your blog today, googling for another one. When I saw your recipe I had to try it. We are huge fans of fresh green beans and that garlic chili sauce. I just made them and they are to die for! Thanks for sharing.

    Also, the painting is beautiful!

  11. Thanks for stopping by my blog too! Yes, as soon as I saw the recipe we jumped in the car to get some green beans and garlic, we had everything else. Our house smelled like a yummy chinese restaurant all night! My husband devoured them when he got home, well what was left of them. I couldn't stop eating them. They reminded us of a spicy mushroom dish we get at a local restaurant, so we are going to try the recipe with mushrooms too. I can see why you say you guys eat them almost every day.

    You have a great blog!

Merry Christmas to you and your family as well! :)
