Valentine's Mountain Weekend

First of all...HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!

I know some of you probably despise this holiday, so I sort of hate to tell you it's one of my favorites...however, maybe this will make you feel better...

It has nothing to do with my boy. Although I love my boy and love any excuse for a holiday with him...

but I love it because my mom used to go all out for Valentine's. The whole house seemed like it was pink and red and I would always wake up to a fun little surprise. It was magical.

Now that's she's a billion miles away I have to make my own magic, and this year I think we did pretty good! I headed to the mountains with all of my best friends...

Let me just say that you have no idea how difficult it was to get this picture.

Here was what the other 100 looked like...

There were 3 boys taking the pictures and they didn't think that "one at a time" was sufficient. We looked in every different direction, and we either look so confused, half of us have our eyes closed or someone is yelling, "ONE AT A TIME!!"

On another small disclosure note, Squirt (that's Sarah on the left) had a "ski accident" cough cough, but don't worry, I made sure to ask her if it was ok to post these pics first!! ;)

She was the best sport and didn't complain ONCE!

Here were our awesome hosts for the weekend!

And here was us with the newly engaged couple!

I love my little Britt, and we had so much fun together!

Besides taking pictures in the -3 degree weather, we lounged around by the fire...

cried with Britt watching "One born every minute" or some show like that, watched 20-20 and had family time...

and of course headed to town to shop!

I've said it a million times, but Highlands is one of my favorite little towns, and I'll take any excuse to go!

I don't think all 5 of us had been shopping together since our "Mystery Trip" to Washington D.C in like 9th grade...have we, girls?!

We had so much fun, and we all found a "happy valentine's gift to ourselves". All of the girls but me found there "somethings" here...

After a little shopping we tried to find somewhere to eat.

You will never know how hard we laughed over this picture...

Squirt tried to put her face against the screen to take a picture, and I think she almost broke that thing again!! Poor little thing, but it was the funniest thing ever...

When we got home I was inspired by Britt's beautiful "Ruby Red Slippers" color on her hand that I wanted to paint my own...

We all had so much fun painting...

But instead of a red for V-day, we all went with this color blue...

Besides our fun little shopping excursion, doing our nails, watching tv and being lazy, we did a lot of this...

Eating!

I absolutely love a round kitchen table...I love being able to see everyone and we had so much fun...

Himmies on the other hand got lots of love from his aunties...

You know how much I love looking at pretty houses, and because Britt's neighborhood is amazing we decided we needed to go take a look around.

Here were a few of my favorites...

So cozy!

and can we say...ENORMOUS!!!

Speaking of beautiful houses, here is a little tour of Britt's...

I love her grandparent's bed...it looks like it's straight out of a castle...

and here was our room for the weekend!

Blake and I had the best time!

We had to take one last picture heading down the mountain because it was so beautiful...

Thanks Britt for such a fun weekend!

Mountain Weekend!!

Since 7th grade we've been going to Brittney's Mountain house in Highlands, NC, and it is by far one of my favorite things that we do!! She is always so sweet to have us all up there, and we make some of the best memories there...

Don't believe me about the "7th Grade" thing? Well, here's your proof...

Apparently I did all my growing through 7th grade and then just stopped. Can you guess who that is on the far left...Oh yes! Thank goodness my hubby grew a few inches over the years! ;)

From left to right is Blake, Britt (who were "dating" at the time haha!), our friend Megan, Meg, Brent and Me.

And Praise the Lord I will be reuniting with my best friends in just a few hours!!!

Britt, I don't know how you didn't make it into this picture, but I would have photoshopped your head in if I had it on my computer! haha.

Anyway, get ready for a long update with lots of pictures when I get home! I feel like it's Christmas Eve...I cannot contain my excitement!!

Have a Happy Love Weekend!! :)

The Diva turns 56 36!!

My mom is so precious, hysterical, and has taught my sister and I so many important life lessons like how to stop those wrinkles, talk your way out of getting in trouble and how the rules never apply to you! how to love people, how to work hard and how to have fun in life!

You're the best, Mom and I hope you have the most amazing day, and an even better YEAR!!

Go have fun, you little 36 year old!! Don't get into too much trouble now! ;)

Hiding under...my pillow.

Hello my blog friends!

Forgive me for falling off the face of the planet. I thought death was calling my name in the form of the flu, but thank God I'm a walking, talking human being again! Whew...that was roughhh!

I literally stayed in bed for 3 days straight, and I was so thankful when my body started coming back to life.

It started off as some kind of bronchitus thing, and I couldn't stop coughing...it was a bad chest cough. Poor Blake who had been so sweet to me through the whole thing came in the 2nd morning and did something that almost ended our marriage...

He sprayed an ENTIRE bottle of Lysol in the room.

Now just think about it for a second...I was sitting there HACKING, and before I could say, "STOP SPRAYING!!!!" my lungs were engulfed with LYSOL!! Not to mention I had just read a friend's tweet about toxic household cleaners, and how I needed to go "green"...wonderful.

Oh it was not pretty. There were many tears on my part, and many "I'm sorry's" on his. It wouldn't have been a big deal except for the fact that I had quaranteened myself to that room and no others so I was stuck! With the Lysol smell!! With an aching, feverish, headached, nauseous, kill me now body! I swear I never want to smell it again...

During the 3 hours I was actually awake during that time, I occupied my time with this...

I may be the only person (besides my bf Britt!) who actually LOVES doing their taxes!! That's probably because we actually get money back still...one day I may hate it! :)

Anywho...I may be a little slow this week getting back in the swing of things, but we have a VERY EXCITING weekend planned with all of my best friends, and I cannot wait for Friday!!! You will be getting a very long, detailed post about it as soon as I return!

Last night...

Last night I went to Publix (which is always a bad idea when you're hungry...), and I figured I would go ahead and get some popcorn chicken since I was starving...possibly just sneak a few bites before I made it out of there...

BIG mistake.

I was on aisle 7, and as I was looking at the pasta when I started to choke...

You know when just a little crumb gets lodged in your throat?!

I started to panic.

Oh Lord...I'm going to die on aisle 7 IN PUBLIC PUBLIX!!

My heart started racing. I became frantic. I rushed around the corner like a deer in headlights, and as soon as I thought my life was over...

I saw a mountain of water bottles on sale.

"Oh Thank God!!"-I thought to myself.

And then, just as I was about to down the water bottle I had grabbed, a man in scrubs walked by me...

A DOCTOR!!

Praise Jesus I will live!!!!

The more I thought about it, I realized there is no greater place in the world to almost die than Publix! Everything you need is there!

Just one more reason why I love My Publix.

I thought I was done with my dramatic thoughts that night until I ran across this on the way home...

Siiiiiiiick.

I hate when the lights are on IN the ambulance. It gives me the heeby geebies. I feel like I'm going to see scissors cutting someone apart and blood flying in the window.

NO THANKS.

I started to get weak again and had to pull into the other lane.

My legs went numb, and I thought to myself, "Oh gosh! I won't be able to stop the car!!!"

and then I put on the brakes.

Oh...ha! well I guess my foot hadn't gone numb yet...

It was just a bit too much for me...

So I went home, grabbed the dogs who had been home alone all day and decided we all needed a little pick me up...

For some reason I thought their day may be a little brighter with some yogurt! And clearly by the look in Teddy's eyes, I was exactly right!

Come to think of it, his eyes look just like mine did when I was choking...like mudder like son...

I didn't let him have the m&ms-don't worry, but he savored every little lick.

Tucker gets confined to the back of the car when we ride (because he sheds) so when we got home he got the rest of the cup...

Well, almost the rest of the cup...

TGIF!

I'm ready for my husband to be home!! Hurry up, Blake!!! :)

Home Tour!

So here is the house Blake and I have been building this past year...

Ha! I just made myself laugh...

CLEARLY I'm kidding.

But when Kelly and I passed by it this weekend we couldn't help but ask the people there if they would mind if we came in and dreamed took a peek. It was AMAZING!

There is nothing I love more than seeing other people's homes. I never used to really care, but all of a sudden I have this huge urge to build a house.

I just pictured myself on a ladder. Now I'm really laughing...

Anywho, I thought maybe you might like tours of homes too so I thought I would bring you along!

So here we go...

The front door entrance.

The living room...

From the living room you walk into the kitchen/sitting room...

the kitchen...

by far my favorite room...this picture does not even begin to do it justice...

The Master Bedroom...I love the color!

Master Bath...

The awesome shower with like 100 different heads...

The closet... (!!!!!!!)

And the cutest children's rooms I've ever seen! You could do so much...they were so whimsical! (Again the picture does not even begin to do it justice)

And the other one...

And then they had the brilliant idea of making an open play room...it was so inviting!

The play room...

And last, but certainly not least...the awesome back overhang/porch/gazebo thing that looked amazing!

I asked the people there if I could come back as these people's children...
