EMERGENCY...PAGING BLAKE AYERS!!
Yes, this precious thing
So here is what happened...he gave me a call at 6:35 and said he was leaving work and on his way home. OF COURSE the last thing I said to him was, "Blake, this dog (clarification HIS black, long-haired, shedding dog, NOT my precious hypo-allergenic, non-shedding, piece of joy, Teddy) HAS to get out of this house...we sweep pretty much every single day and there is STILL dog hair EVERYWHERE...SIIIIIICK! (This is one thing I vowed to NEVER have in my house...I think it is absolutely repulsive to go in someone's house and spot dog hair, so there is NO WAY I'm having it in mine!) His precious response was "Megan, I'll take care of it, we'll keep him out of the house and he can stay in the back." I said a pouty "ok" and a half "I love you" and hung up the phone...
Then he didn't call for the next hour.
Let me just preface this by saying I work for an insurance company, and hear HORROR stories every single day, and as soon as I looked down at the clock and realized 35 minutes had passed, I had called him with no answer for a straight 30 minutes while all of those horror stories raced through my head. So what did I do? I called his mom, his dad, his best friend and his twin brother. What did his brother say? "Oh he probably just went to the gym"...cool as a cucumber. While I'm thinking..."BRENT, DO YOU HEAR ME?!!! HE'S BEEN GONE NOW FOR 45 MINS...THIS IS BOTH OF OUR OTHER HALVES!!! THROW ME A SYMPATHY BONE PLEASE!!!!!" But I calmly replied with a "yeah, maybe, ok, see ya Friday." At which point I googled Strom Gym on my phone as fast as possible. And here's how THAT conversation went...
"Strom Gym"-lady working the counter
"ummmmmm hi....(wondering how to put this) Can you page someone for me? His name is Blake Ayers?"-Me
"ugh well maam we don't normally page people here (probably thinking who the heck is this? an obsessive girlfriend perhaps??) is it an emergency?"-lady
"Yes it's an emergency! (tears streaming down my cheek and obvious cracking in my voice) It's a FAMILY emergency, this is his wife! (sounded very mature at the time)"-Me
"oh! (Realizing I'm not the crazy girlfriend) well, hold on one sec!!...ok we'll page him and have him call you"
30 seconds later...guess who calls..."Meeeeeaaaaagan...I'm ok, I promise I'm ok"
"I HATE YOU I'M SO MAD AT YOU I LOVE YOU WHERE ARE YOU WHEN WILL YOU BE HOME?!!! Sadness quickly turned into anger which quickly turned into full on relief!
So where was he you ask?? No not the gym, he was here...
And what was he buying?
And what was that for??
Prizes for Bingo at the Assisted Living he works at...
Yeah....typical. So after that my anger/sadness/throw-up feeling vanished and we had a fun night of watching American Idol :)
Stay tuned Teddy is getting groomed today at a VERY classy place...you won't want to miss this gem.

Give a little, Take a little
So what's a girl to do when you can't beat 'em?! JOIN 'EM!
Here's what I'm talking about...
If you were to give Blake and I a free weekend to do whatever we wanted...this is what Blake's would look like...
Yes, I know it's beautiful and looks appealing, but I'm usually thinking more along the lines of this... indoors, bug-free, relaxing...you get my picture.
SO...I decided this weekend to try and meet him in the middle. The truth is every single time he begs me to do something "outdoorsy," I resist, wine, whatever... but then I ALWAYS end up LOVING whatever we do. I don't know why I am always so hesitant, but I keep trying to tell him, "I PROMISE I'M TRYING, but you KNOW who you married...this may take some getting used to Mister!!" He has been quite patient with me, and I am so thankful to be married to someone who pushes me, rather than not challenging me at all.
SO while we were playing at the park the other day with the dogs, I was starting to get REALLY bored. He had a golf club (left handed) so I tried hitting it a couple times only to dig up half the field...I'm right handed, thank you. So then I tried hitting the lacross ball with a tennis racket, but let's be honest, there is only so many times you can do that before falling asleep...
Blake, who could see my frustration growing by the second, finally came up to me and said "What would make you want to be here? What would make you ENJOY being here?" I searched my childhood years and the only thing I ever played with was a soccer ball, so I told him I wanted one, and off we went with his giftcard from Christmas and bought one!
we didn't stop there...my adrenaline was rushing and I was feeling pretty confident...so we got one of these too.
I told him if he got me and Teddy a tent we might even try camping again...so we found Teddy a tent, and one for us right below it :)
It was a fun weekend, and we were both worn out by the end of it, so I read my book cover to cover (It was SO GOOD!!) and when I went in to find Blake, this is what I found (seriously not staged)...
In other news...I'm flying to ITHACA, NY tomorrow at 1:30 to see my SISTER and my NEW PRECIOUS NEPHEW!!! I will try to update along the way!
I hope your Monday is not a Monday :)
James "Bauer" Ford is here!!!!!!!!!!!!
So as you can see, my sister is a FREAK OF NATURE and looked like a model literally 5 minutes after giving birth!!!! Mom called me around 4:45 while I was talking to one of my best friend's, Breen. I asked Breen if I could call her right back just in case anything MAJOR was happening, but thinking in the back of my mind "She just went into labor 2 1/2 hours ago SURELYYYY she's not about to have this baby, right?!" WRONG. Sure enough Mom said "MEGAN!! I can see the head! And in the background I could hear the Doctor telling Kel how great she was doing and to keep pushing (Kel still sounded cool as a cucumber and everyone in the room was so CALM. Immediately tears streamed down my face as Blake and I put them on speaker phone and listened for the next 5 minutes or so until finally we heard the sweetest cry I've ever heard!! It was the most beautiful, glorious, emotional phone call of my life (right beside the day I found out she was pregnant with Naphtali and the day she also was born!).
Baby Ford was 7 lbs 4 oz and was 18.5 inches long!! We are so thankful to God for this healthy baby boy! Kel is doing great (I've called at least 16 times, but I just can't help myself!), and they are still working on a name! The two they are deciding between right now are James Bauer Ford and James Banks Ford, but are not positive right now and still open to other names so I'll let you know as soon as they decide for sure!
To Kelly when you read this next week~I wish more than anything I could have been there today, but I am so thankful for another piece of you in this world!! I love my baby boy more than life itself and can't wait to see you both on Tuesday! I love you to Heaven and back and I'm so proud of you!!!!
THE STORK IS ON IT'S WAY!!!! Walking through the cosmetics line in Target to pick out some lip gloss for my niece, Naphtali I got a call from my mom saying "Megan!! MEGAN!!! Can you hear me?!! This (fuzz fuzz fuzz) portant!!" I then get a beep from my new stepdad so I beep over and I answered the phone, "Bill! I'm in Target...the reception is bad hold on I'll run to the front!"...."MEGAN!!...KELLY'S (fuzz fuzz fuzz) BROKE!" I stopped suddenly in the middle of Target and LOUDLY announced "HER WATER JUST BROKE?!!!!?!!" (As people awkwardly walked by me).
SO...I screamed at Blake "BLAKE HURRY I HAVE TO GET ON A PLANE KEL'S WATER JUST BROKE!!" as to which my sweet husband came quickly and said "ok call the airlines and see if you can get your flight changed" Meanwhile my entire family is blowing up my phone (we become a bit dramatic in these situations if you didn't know that already)
I got on the phone with the airlines, tried for about 20 minutes to get it changed, then sweet Bill got on the phone with them for about 45 minutes, and when I found out it wasn't going to work out I burst into tears on the phone with Kel...you see, I was supposed to be in the room when she actually HAD the baby, and the original plan was that they would enduce her Wednesday morning so I made my flight for Tuesday afternoon. Ever since she got pregnant we had planned this, but I know God always has a reason for things...sooooo I guess I will just have to be the first one on the plane Tuesday at 1:30 pm!!
I just got off the phone with her and she was in the middle of a contraction, and I made her promise to call me when she so much as had her blood pressure checked and she promised she would. She was as calm and precious as ever, and I know she will do so great because she is such a strong woman and loves her babies more than anything!!
I'll keep you updated when our precious baby is HERE!!!

$40
Driving down the road to go play at the park with the dogs yesterday, Blake looked at me and said, "I'm going to give you something. I want you to take $40 from the money I made at the Masters and go buy whatever you want."
NOW...before I go any further, let me just preface this by saying 11 months ago I would have looked at him adoringly, said thank you, and thought to myself, "wow, $40...I guess that might buy me a couple of shirts at Target, or one on sale at J Crew, but I hope he knows I like nice things, and nice things can sometimes cost more than $40." However now that I'm married, live in reality and am on a BUDGET, I looked at him over-adoringly, said thank you, and thought to myself, "YESSSSSSSSS!!!! $40!!!!!!! I'm going to get my book and a frappacino and a magazine and that chord I need for my camera and some gum and maybe I'll even have enough left over for some french fries-it's the weekend, right?!"
You should have seen the things that raced through my head at the thought of that much money.
So here's what I'll be spending my $40 on this weekend...
The NEW (it came out May 11th) Emily Giffen book, Heart of the Matter. Author of Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof and Love the One You're With, I read through all four in a matter of days...and don't be impressed...I could count the number of books I've read in my lifetime on two hands
A Starbuck's Mocha Frappacino...you can't have a girl's day wrapped up in a good book or magazine without one of these! (Minus the whip cream and things on top...I don't like those)
A copy of Vogue. So once upon a time in my life I lived in New York, had an incredible internship and ate up every second of the fashion world. I wouldn't trade where I am now for anything so I'm ok just flipping through and dreaming about the clothes in here now!
Besides...I ran across this (Jan '09 issue) and thought "Hmm...now this is just dumb. Who would/could/should EVER wear this?!!" Come on people...
I hope you have a wonderful weekend...I'll update you with ours along the way! Starting with a date night tonight to Mellow Mushroom for our usual :)
